Job Description
We are assisting a client in San Jose, CA with hiring a Quality Engineer for their Electronics Manufacturing team. This position is direct hire with our client and no 3rd party candidates will be accepted.
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to monitor and improve the quality of our operational processes and outputs. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems as required. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing and coordinating Calibration and Preventive Maintenance activities for the Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment Control System. A successful Quality Engineer should be self-motivated, driven, and have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards, while staying focused on problem resolution and continual improvement to support the production and inspection teams when questions arise.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field; (Electrical preferred) -or-
  • 3-5 years' experience in Electronics Manufacturing or PCB industry or similar fields, preferably with at least 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • CIT (Certified IPC Trainer) is desired, IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001 Certification is a plus
  • ASQ certification preferred, or a Technical Certificate / CQE Certification is desired
  • Knowledge of manufacturing monitoring and MRP systems
  • Understand SPC
  • Knowledge of military/aerospace, medical device, CAPA and continuous improvement is desired
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent project management skills.

LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to also communicate in Spanish, both verbally and in writing is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write and understand basic reports such as audit reports and nonconformance reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues (internally) and customers / suppliers (externally).
  • Must have interpersonal and language skills necessary to deal with people at all levels within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned).

  • Perform training for certification programs (IPC-A-610 & JSTD-001) for inspection and production personnel Perform X-RAY validations and assist in decision making process for acceptability of the product based on X-RAY results.
  • Develop Quality Attribute Plans by identifying critical criteria for inspection
  • Perform validations on returned product, (RMAs), & perform investigations as needed (such as root cause analysis and documenting associated corrective / preventive actions)
  • Perform various trainings related to corrective / preventive actions
  • Perform internal supplemental audits to verify that facility records and processes (e.g. equipment, training files, etc.) are in conformance to applicable SOP and AS9100, ISO13485 and NADCAP standards
  • Assist and/or host inspections by customer auditors and 3rd party registrars
  • Assist in the development of statistical methods for control of processes
  • Interpret new and revised customer drawings for Mil Spec requirements as needed
  • Perform calibration activities throughout the facility on time, and manage the calibration log (recall system) to coordinate with external calibration houses
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities throughout the facility as needed, and manage the preventive maintenance log (recall system) to coordinate with internal departments
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation on calibration and preventive maintenance
  • Perform actions related to the ESD Control Plan by monitoring readings on the floor, humidity tracking daily, and coordinate any actions needed
  • Enforcing best practices for ESD, MSD, handling, 6S, and overall documentation
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by management
